About musiczeit.com

Electronic dance music has always been associated with Europe. In fact, a lot of the top DJs from all over the world tend to come from Western Europe. DJ Tiesto, chief among them. While American DJ have historically provided a running backbeat or a running foundation for electronic dance music, it is our contention that the major leaps forward as far as creativity, depth and defining the outer limits of this musical form has a distinct European flavor.

Now, don’t get us wrong.

We’re not necessarily saying that all electronica is European. Far from it. There are lots of influences from all over the world. Japan, for example, is a big source of influence.

However, when it comes to the dynamism as well as the very pronounced idea as well as sense that we’re dealing not just with some sort of musical category or some sort of musical product but a distinct community that has taken a life of its own, a lot of that is infused and informed by a European spirit regardless of whether we choose to acknowledge it or not.

It’s not politically correct.

It’s definitely not something that a lot of people go out and brag about but if you have eyes, you can see it. It’s like trying to avoid an eight-hundred-pound elephant in the room. It’s not exactly a good idea. You probably would be able to only get away with it for so long. After all, burying your head in the sand is not exactly a winning strategy.

So, we call a spade a spade.

We just point out the obvious that a lot of Euro electronic dance music is nothing to be embarrassed about. So what? It’s mostly European. So what? It is informed by Western European values, Western European culture because we truly believe that this is nothing to apologize for, and it can be a positive force for change.

This website is dedicated to everything and anything related to European electronic dance music. This doesn’t necessarily mean that we shut out electronic dance music or electronica from all corners of the world. No, that’s not our intention at all.

We publish a lot of information on other electronica scenes.

We celebrate the interconnections as well as exchange of ideas and inspiration that transcend and overcome all sorts of barriers. I’m not just talking about political, geographic or economic barriers. I’m also talking about psychological and emotional barriers.

You have to understand that the walls that exist among any group of people across international borders are not physical walls. They’re not walls that have barbwire. They’re not walls that stretch throughout some sort of desert with lots of cactus and wild animals. Those are not the kind of borders that really hold people apart.

The borders that we are trying to destroy, the borders that we’re trying to overcome are internal borders. These are attitudes that hold us back and drag us from reaching the fullest potential that we all have. I’m not just necessarily talking about racial or ethnic discrimination. It goes beyond that. It’s not even religious discrimination.

Instead, it’s the discrimination that certain types of music are awesome and other types of music are off-limits. No. When you have an open mind, you allow yourself to be inspired by humanity. Humanity speaks different languages, and humanity also plays different types of music. It is this open-ended and open-minded approach to electronic music that really forms the bedrock of its creative reservoir. It also ensures that this form of music will continue to inspire and take people to the next level for a long, long time to come.

This is our mission, this is our vision and this is why this website publishes everything and anything that is related to European electronic dance music.
